At LayerPad, we work with people who care about clean print results, practical service and getting the small details right. Based in Centurion, we support makers, schools and print farms across South Africa and we hire for roles that help us do that well.

A Workplace Built Around Real Making

LayerPad is a hands-on business. Our day often starts with checking build plates, cutting sheets to size, packing orders for dispatch, and helping customers solve adhesion problems before a print goes wrong. If you like practical work and can stay organised when the pace picks up, you will fit in well here.

We are a South African team serving people from Pretoria and Johannesburg to Cape Town, Durban and Bloemfontein. That means we need staff who understand local conditions too, from hot summer beds and dusty workshops to coastal humidity and the kind of power interruptions that can interrupt a print right when it matters.

The Roles We Commonly Hire For

We do not list fixed vacancies on this page, but we regularly look for people in a few key areas. Depending on business needs, we may need someone in production, technical support, sales, operations, education or customer care.

  • Production and cutting support for plates, sheets and custom sizes
  • Technical sales for bed adhesion advice and product matching
  • Customer support and order coordination through our enquiry process
  • Operations and dispatch work for Centurion and surrounding areas
  • Education support for school lab setup and maker programmes

We value clear communication, careful workmanship, and the ability to work with both hobby users and high-volume print farms.

What We Look For In New Team Members

You do not need to know everything on day one, but you should be willing to learn and handle tools, materials and customer requests with care. Practical experience is helpful, especially if you have worked with 3D printing, workshop equipment, signage, packaging or technical products. Attention to detail matters because a small measurement error can affect a fit or finish.

  • Good timekeeping and a steady work ethic
  • Basic computer skills for admin and order handling
  • Comfort with measuring, cutting and checking finished work
  • Clear spoken and written English, with the ability to help customers simply
  • Respect for safety, tidy work areas and stock control

We also need people who can keep calm when a customer has an urgent replacement request or a machine has been down overnight, its part of the job.

How We Work Day To Day

Our team works across several functions, so cooperation matters. Production, support and sales need to share information quickly, especially when a school needs a lab setup, a print farm needs standardising, or a customer needs a replacement plan for worn surfaces. We prefer people who can work independently but still keep the rest of the team informed.

Because we serve customers nationally, we also keep practical service standards in mind. That includes reliable packaging, sensible turnaround times and advice that works in real South African workshops, not just in ideal conditions.

Growth, Training And Learning On The Job

We support learning where it helps the business and the customer. A new team member may need time to understand our plate systems, PEI sheet fitting, magnetic base fitting, flatness checks and bed care methods. Where possible, we train people to spot common adhesion faults and recommend the right fix instead of guessing.

People who join us often get exposure to more than one part of the business, which helps you build a broader technical base. That is useful if you want long-term experience in a specialised South African supply environment.
