Leadership That Keeps The Work Grounded

Mpho van der Merwe leads LayerPad from Centurion with a clear focus on reliable products, plain advice and steady turnaround times. Since 2014, the business has grown by listening to what South African users actually need from a build plate supplier, especially when printers are running long hours or working through load-shedding interruptions.

As Managing Director, Mpho stays close to the details, from product selection to service standards. He is practical, direct and focused on making sure schools, hobbyists and print farms get solutions that fit the printer, the room and the budget, without fuss.

Operations That Keep Orders Moving

Naledi Molefe manages daily operations and keeps stock, collections and dispatch organised across the different service areas. Her work matters when a customer needs a replacement plate quickly or when a school lab has a schedule that cannot slip because term time is already packed.

She handles the moving parts that customers do not always see, including preparation, order flow and local delivery planning. Naledi is known for staying calm under pressure, and she keeps the team aligned when demand climbs during busy printing periods.

  • Centurion collection planning for local customers
  • Dispatch coordination for Pretoria, Midrand and Johannesburg
  • Service timing for Cape Town, Durban and Bloemfontein orders

Technical Sales With Proper Application Advice

Johan Smit works with customers who want the right surface, the right fit and clear guidance before they commit to a purchase. His role covers technical sales, so he spends a lot of time matching build plates, PEI sheets and magnetic bases to the printer model, the material being used and the way the machine is run day to day.

He is the person customers speak to when they need to solve first-layer issues, decide on custom size cutting or plan a replacement setup for more than one printer. Johan keeps things practical and easy to understand, and he is good at spotting the small detail that can save a lot of wasted material later.

Support That Makes Fitment Less Stressful

Ayesha Ismail handles customer support and keeps communication clear from the first enquiry through to after-fitment questions. She helps customers work through common questions about bed flatness, surface refreshes and PEI sheet fitting, especially where the printer is being used in a school, shared workshop or home setup.

Many customers come in with a fault that sounds bigger than it is. Ayesha asks the right questions, points them in the right direction and keeps the process moving so they can get back to printing without losing a day or two of work.

  • Adhesion troubleshooting for uneven first layers
  • Bed care training for new users and lab assistants
  • Replacement planning for worn or damaged surfaces

Production Built Around Careful Fit And Finish

Thabo Nkosi works in production and is responsible for the careful handling of plate preparation, cutting and fitting work. His job depends on accuracy, because a plate that is even a few millimetres off can create problems for print quality, and nobody wants that after waiting out a long municipal power cut.

He checks measurements, prepares materials and makes sure each piece leaves the workshop ready for practical use. Thabo’s approach is hands-on and exact, with a strong focus on repeatable results for both one-off users and larger print farm orders.

Education Support For Schools And Makers

Lerato Maseko leads maker education and helps schools, clubs and beginner users get comfortable with the basics of build plates and bed adhesion. She supports school lab setup work, where the aim is not only to get a printer running but to make sure learners can use it safely and confidently afterwards.

Her work is especially useful for groups that are setting up more than one printer at once, or where staff need simple routines that can be followed by different people. Lerato explains the steps clearly, from surface care to adhesion checks, so the classroom or lab stays organised and the printers stay in service.

The Way The Team Works Together

What customers notice most is that the LayerPad team works as one unit rather than separate parts. A sales question can turn into a fitment job, a support call can turn into a replacement plan, and a school enquiry can become a full setup with proper training. That handover is what keeps the service smooth for customers in Pretoria, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Bloemfontein and Gqeberha.

Everyone on the team understands that South African users need practical support, not long explanations that get in the way of printing. Whether the job is a single plate or a full farm standardising project, the people behind LayerPad keep it direct, useful and steady, which is what matters most when the machines need to keep going.

  • Local support from Centurion for walk-in collection
  • Coverage for makers, schools and production teams nationwide
  • Advice that fits South African printing conditions, from humidity to power cuts
