Practical support for everyday printing
LayerPad support is set up for real workshop use, not theory. If a plate is slipping, a surface is worn, or a printer is not laying down the first layer cleanly, we help you work out the next step quickly. Clients come to us from Pretoria, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Bloemfontein, and we also support Gqeberha, Midrand and the surrounding areas.
We handle single machines, classroom sets and larger print farms. Whether you are fitting a new build plate, checking a magnetic base or planning replacements across several printers, our approach is simple: match the surface to the machine, the material and the way you print.
What our support team helps with
Our support covers the common issues that slow printing down and waste material. If the first layer is lifting, the bed is uneven, or a PEI sheet needs replacing, we can guide the fix and advise on the right parts. For schools and production teams, we also help standardise surfaces so every machine behaves more consistently.
- Plate installation and PEI sheet fitting
- Magnetic base fitting and surface refresh work
- Bed flatness checks and adhesion troubleshooting
- Custom size cutting and replacement planning
- Bed care training for staff, teachers and operators
Support for schools, makers and print farms
Different users need different support. A hobby printer may only need help with a warped surface and the right cleaning routine. A school lab may need clear handling rules and simple training for learners. A print farm may need consistent parts, fewer stoppages and a standard process across every machine. We work with all three and keep the advice practical.
For education spaces, we can help with lab setup, safe handling and basic maintenance routines. For production environments, we look at repeatability, changeover time and how to keep spare surfaces ready so a machine can go back into use quickly when one plate needs attention.
Centurion base with national reach
Our base is in Centurion, Gauteng, with collection and support points that help us serve clients across South Africa. We work with enquiries from Pretoria East, Midrand, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Bloemfontein and Gqeberha. If you need help choosing a surface for a new machine or replacing a worn plate on an existing one, we can talk through the options before you order.
Because South African conditions vary a lot, support often includes advice on moisture, temperature changes and power interruptions. Coastal humidity can affect adhesion, while load-shedding can interrupt long prints and leave a part partly cooled on the bed. We help clients plan around these issues so the next print starts with fewer surprises.
How to get help through the contact form
Clients reach us through the enquiry form on our contact page. Tell us what printer you use, what material you are printing with and what problem you are seeing. If you can include the plate size, bed type and a photo of the surface, that usually helps us narrow things down faster.
- What machine you use
- What surface or plate you currently have
- What is happening at the first layer
- Whether you need fitting, replacement or troubleshooting
- Your town or area for collection, dispatch or support
Ongoing help after the sale
Support does not stop once the parts are fitted. We help with surface care, replacement planning and keeping a small stock of consumables ready so your team is not caught out mid-job. If you run several machines, we can also help you keep the same surface standard across the whole group, which makes maintenance easier and reduces confusion for operators.
Mpho van der Merwe leads the business with a hands-on approach, supported by Naledi Molefe, Johan Smit, Ayesha Ismail, Thabo Nkosi and Lerato Maseko. That mix of operations, technical help and maker education means clients get advice from people who know how printers behave in the real world, not just on paper.
