LayerPad respects your privacy and handles personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the choices available to you.

Our operator is Astros Marketing (Pty) Ltd, which may process information on our instructions and under appropriate confidentiality and security controls. We remain committed to using your information only for lawful business purposes and for the services you request from us.

What information we collect through enquiries and orders

We collect only the information we need to assist you, supply products, and manage our records properly. This may include contact details, delivery information, company or school details, product requirements, printer specifications, and notes you provide about bed adhesion, build plates, PEI sheets, or installation support.

We may also use it to manage installation appointments, bed flatness checks, replacement planning, school lab setup, and other services you have asked us to provide.

We may use your information to improve our service levels, resolve queries, prevent fraud, comply with legal obligations, and protect our business interests. We do not use your information for purposes that are unrelated to your request without a lawful basis.

When we share information with third parties

We may share limited personal information with trusted third parties only where it is necessary to complete your request or meet a legal duty. This can include delivery partners, payment service providers, accounting support, IT support, and service providers who help us operate securely and efficiently.

Where we share information, we require appropriate safeguards. We do not sell personal information. If information is transferred outside South Africa, we take steps to ensure that the recipient applies protection that is substantially similar to POPIA, where required.

How long we keep records

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected, or for as long as the law requires. This can include tax and accounting retention periods, warranty related records, and records needed to resolve disputes or support ongoing customers.

When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete, destroy, or de-identify it securely. Some records may be retained in backup systems for a limited period, but remain subject to access controls and confidentiality obligations.

Your rights under POPIA

You have rights in relation to your personal information, subject to legal and contractual limits. You may ask us to confirm whether we hold information about you, request access to it, ask us to correct inaccurate details, or object to certain types of processing where the law allows it.

  • Request access to your personal information
  • Ask for correction or updating of inaccurate details
  • Object to processing in certain circumstances
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator if required

To protect your information, we may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Security, contact through forms, and policy updates

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, misuse, or disclosure. This includes access control, secure storage, and limited use of information to staff and service providers who need it for their duties.

When you contact us through the enquiry form on our contact page, the details you submit are used only to handle that request and related follow-up. We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in law or our business practices. The latest version will apply from the date it is published.

If you continue to use our services after an update, that use will be treated as acceptance of the revised policy, subject to any rights you may have under applicable law.
