Here is how LayerPad handles dispatch, delivery and returns for build plates, PEI sheets and bed adhesion products. We keep the process clear for makers, schools and print farms across South Africa, from Centurion to Cape Town and Durban.

Shipping And Returns

How dispatch works from Centurion

Orders are prepared at our Centurion base and sent out once stock is confirmed and the order details are checked. In most cases, items leave on the next working day after payment clears, though custom size cutting, plate fitting or replacement planning can add extra time. If your order includes more than one item, we pack it together where practical so that your build plate and accessories arrive in one consignment, not split across several parcels.

We work with schools, hobby users and print farms, so we keep packing practical and protective. Flat items are sleeved or wrapped to limit scratches, and magnetic parts or PEI sheets are kept apart so they do not pick up debris in transit. During load shedding or busy periods, dispatch may shift by a day, but we always aim to keep you informed through the contact form on the contact page.

Where we deliver across South Africa

LayerPad supplies customers in Pretoria, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Bloemfontein and Gqeberha, as well as surrounding areas in Gauteng and other major centres. We also serve Centurion Collection, Pretoria East Support, Midrand Dispatch Point, Johannesburg Coverage, Cape Town Coverage, Durban Coverage and Bloemfontein Coverage. If you are based near the coast, we take extra care with packaging because humidity can affect adhesive-backed products if they are left open too long.

  • Centurion and Pretoria for quick collection and local support
  • Midrand, Johannesburg and Sandton for commercial and school orders
  • Cape Town, Durban and Gqeberha for coastal deliveries
  • Bloemfontein and inland routes for workshop and lab supplies

Delivery time depends on the courier route and your location. Metro areas are usually faster, while regional deliveries can take a little longer. If your site has access limits, security rules or a reception booking system, please add those details so we can pack and label accordingly.

Packaging care for build plates and PEI sheets

Build plates and PEI sheets need careful handling because even a small bend or scratch can affect first-layer performance. We pack sheets flat wherever possible and use spacers or backing support for thinner items. Magnetic bases and adhesive products are sealed to reduce dust exposure, which matters in workshops where grinders, sanding and filament dust are common.

When your parcel arrives, check the outer packaging first before opening. If the carton looks crushed, wet or re-taped, note it on the courier waybill or take a quick photo before unpacking. That simple step makes it much easier to sort out a courier issue later. For schools and print farms, we also suggest checking the contents against the invoice as soon as the box is opened, so any short shipment can be caught early.

Returns for unused items only

Returns are accepted for unused items that are still in original condition, with protective film, liners or packaging intact where relevant. This includes standard build plates, unused PEI sheets and unopened bed adhesion products. Items that have been fitted, trimmed, scratched, heated in use or contaminated with glue, oil or filament residue cannot be returned. Custom cut sizes and fitted components are also usually non-returnable because they are made for a specific machine or bed size.

  • Keep the item unused and in its original packaging
  • Log the issue through the enquiry form on the contact page
  • Wait for return approval before sending anything back
  • Use secure packaging so the item arrives in resellable condition

If a return is approved, the item must come back in clean condition and must be checked by our team on arrival. If the item fails inspection, we may need to decline the return. We keep the rules plain because many customers are ordering for production use and need a process that is practical, not vague.

Steps to follow if something is wrong with your order

If the wrong item was supplied, the parcel arrived damaged or a part is missing, contact us as soon as possible through the enquiry form. Include your order details, a short note about the issue and clear photos of the item and packaging. That helps us decide whether the matter is a courier claim, a packing correction or a return.

  1. Do not fit or use the item if you think it is incorrect
  2. Keep all packaging until the matter is resolved
  3. Send photos of the item, label and outer carton
  4. Wait for our reply before arranging a send back

We try to resolve these cases quickly, especially for schools and farms that cannot afford downtime. A damaged plate or a delayed adhesive order can stall a whole batch, so we treat these matters with urgency and keep the next step clear.

Planning orders for schools, farms and repeat users

For schools, makerspaces and print farms, the best approach is to plan replacements before stock runs out. We can help with replacement planning, farm standardising and school lab setup so you know which parts should be kept on hand. This is especially useful where printers run daily and bed surfaces wear at different rates depending on material, nozzle temperature and cleaning habits.

If you are ordering for multiple printers, it helps to send a list of bed sizes, machine types and any special fitting requirements through the enquiry form. That lets us group the order properly and avoid mistakes. We also recommend a small spare stock of high-wear consumables, so a single worn plate does not stop a classroom or production line. For coastal sites and humid storerooms, sealed storage is worth the effort.

Questions we get asked

How long does dispatch usually take?

In most cases, stock items leave on the next working day after payment clears. Custom cutting, fitting or large school and farm orders may take longer.

Can I return a PEI sheet after I have fitted it?

No. Returns are only accepted for unused items in original condition. Once a sheet has been fitted, trimmed or used, it cannot be returned.

What should I do if my parcel arrives damaged?

Keep the packaging, take photos of the damage and log the issue through the enquiry form on the contact page. Do not install the item until the matter is checked.
